Day 18: Less than 20,000

Today started off with a bad headache. I wasn't sure how much writing I would get done.

But I now have less than 20,000 to go.

It feels weird, and yet it's very exciting.

When you first start Nanowrimo, it looks like a huge task, writing 50,000 words in one month.

But it's not so hard when you remember you're not writing all those words in one day.

You're only writing 1,667 each day.

And you're only writing one word at a time.

Maria Edgeworth once said, "If we take care of the moments, the years will take care of themselves."

This is true to writing as well.

Don't worry about writing a novel. Focus on getting that first hundred words down.

And then the next hundred. And the next hundred.

If you take care of writing each hundred words as it comes along, the novel will write itself.

Today's Total: 2,064
Total So Far: 30,481
Left to Write: 19,519
